No Surprises Act (2026)
For uninsured and/or self-pay clients:
The No Surprises Act protects patients from unexpected medical bills. Starting in 2026, healthcare providers are required to provide a 'Good Faith Estimate' (GFE) for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes psychiatric evaluations, counseling sessions, and ongoing psychiatric care. You can also ask your healthcare provider for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. Transparency in cost ensures you can make informed decisions about your mental health journey without the stress of hidden fees.
